DSC-PG9976 Smoke Detector Battery Replacement

Battery Replacement

Battery Required: (two) 3V CR123A. See battery purchase instructions in Low Battery section above.

CAUTION: Risk of explosion if battery is replaced with an incorrect type.
NOTE: Constant exposure to high or low temperatures or high humidity may reduce battery life.

Note: To access the battery compartment, you will need to remove the detector from the mounted base plate.

Instructions: Ensure System is Disarmed

  1. Place your system in Test Mode to avoid emergency services responding to alarm signals while you work. Call Reed Security at 306.653.3200 option 3 or the monitoring station directly at 1.888.961.7333

  2. Twist the detector counterclockwise to remove it from its mounting plate. This will cause a “Tamper” condition, and the LEDs will flash. This is normal and will end once the detector is remounted.

  3. Carefully remove the batteries. You may need a flathead screwdriver to lift the “+” end of the batteries out of the compartment. BATTERY CAUTION: Risk of fire, explosion and burns. Do not recharge, disassemble, heat above 212° F (100° C) or incinerate. Dispose of used batteries properly. Keep away from children.

  4. Wait 30 seconds.

  5. Install the new batteries. Be sure to insert them correctly, matching the negative (-) and positive (+) markings on the batteries with those in the battery compartment. Note: For ease, insert the negative end first.

  6. Position the detector over the mounting plate, press it into place, and turn it clockwise until it is securely attached and snapped closed.

  7. After the detector powers up, press and hold the Test/Hush button to verify the detector is functioning correctly (this may set off the siren)

  8. Remove the system from Test Mode.
