DSC - Quick Reference Guide

Arming Your System:
Make sure all doors & windows (with sensors) are closed. Wait for the ready light (green check mark) to  come on. Enter your 4 digit access code or use the “stay” or “away” buttons.  *Note: There will be a 2 minute exit delay ‐ indicated by keypad beeps.

Disarming Your System:
Upon entering your home/business there is a 30 second entry delay, indicated by a continuous keypad  tone. Enter your 4 digit access code to disarm your system.

“Stay” Mode:
Used when you are staying in the home. This feature allows you to arm your perimeter door and  window sensors and leaves your motion sensors disarmed. To activate, press and hold the “stay”  button, until you hear the keypad beep.

“Away” Mode:
Used for system “Quick‐Arm” or “One‐Button Arming”. Make sure all doors & windows (with sensors)  are closed. Wait for the ready light (green check mark) to come on then press and hold the “away”  button until you hear the keypad beep. For commercial applications, ask your technician to deactivate  this key if you would like to keep track of user codes.   *Note: For security reasons, there is no “Quick Disarm” button.

Master Code:
The Master Code is used to make programming changes to your system, as well as arming and disarming  your system. To change the Master Code press [*] [5] [Current Master Code] [40] [New Master Code] #.  *Note: Be careful when changing your master code, as a technician will need to re‐program your system  if the master code is mistakenly deleted or forgotten.

User Access Codes:
User Access Codes are different from the Master Code, in that they are still used to arm and disarm your  system, but do not allow the user to change anything in programming. The number of codes you can  enter varies, depending on the system you have. When programming user access codes, you must  always use a 2 digit number, ie: 01, 02, 03, etc.  To add or change a code: press [*] [5] [Master Code] [Code 01 to 32] [New 4 digit Access Code] #  To remove a code: press [*] [5] [Master Code] [Code 01 to 32] [*] #

Time & Date Programming
In the event that you need to reset the time and date on your keypad, press [*] [6] [Master Code], then  press [1] to select Time and Date. Enter the time in 24 hr format (HH:MM) followed by the date  (MM:DD:YY). Press # to exit programming.

Acknowledging Trouble Alerts:
To acknowledge and override any trouble alerts, access the Trouble Menu ([*][2]), press [9]. The trouble alert should clear. Press [#] to exit the menu if necessary.

Bypassing A Zone:
If a zone is showing “open” or in "error" and you are not able to arm your system, you can try to bypass the zone. Bypassing a zone tells your system to ignore any activity on that zone. Doing so can allow you to arm a system that has an error that needs service. This will keep your site safe while awaiting repairs.
To Bypass:
  1. Press the 'star' button to enter the menu
  2. Press the left and right arrow keys to find the option Bypass. Note this is often the first option.
  3. Press Star to enter the Bypass Menu
  4. Use the left and right arrow keys to find the zone in question.
  5. Press the 'star' button to bypass. You will see a "B" on the zone screen to show it is bypassed.
  6. Keep scrolling through to bypass any other needed zones.
  7. Press the "#" key to save and exit.
To turn off a bypass, follow the same steps and use the 'star' button to toggle off the "B" in the zone.

Communications Test:
Your alarm system should be tested weekly, to ensure that it is operating properly.
  1. Call API Monitoring at 1‐800‐268‐6870 and let them know you are testing the system.
  2. Once off the phone, press [*] [6] [Master Code] [4]. The following will occur:
    • The keypad & siren will make noise for a few seconds and all keypad lights will turn ON.
    • The “ready”, “armed” and “trouble” LED’s will flash for the duration of the test.
    • Once the noise stops, press # to exit.
  3. Call the monitoring center back, to determine if they received the test signal.
Note: If your test signal was NOT received, please contact our office during business hours, for troubleshooting assistance or to arrange for a service call.
