Security system backup batteries are necessary for the proper operation of the system during a power outage. If the system reports the backup battery has low charge, it will not be able to support the system as long as it could with a full charge. If it is intermittently or persistently reporting low battery, the backup battery is likely getting old and needs to be replaced. Backup batteries are user replaceable. Contact Reed Support to purchase/order a replacement battery.

Before starting:
- Make sure your system is disarmed; and
- Contact Reed Support or the monitoring station to put the system on test.
1) Locate the main security panel (often in mechanical or electrical room, or a place discussed at time of install).
2) Disconnect panel from AC power (confirm by locating power adapter and tracing wiring to panel).
3) Access battery bay by removing panel front cover using small slot screwdriver to lever open (using the 2 small slots at bottom, circled in red).
4) Disconnect battery cable from terminals on old battery (red and grey circles).
5) Remove old battery by pushing right tab out (green circle above), releasing battery.
