Alarm.com - Add/Edit secondary user information

User information can be added and edited using the Customer Website or Customer app. 

 Important: The security system must be disarmed to add or update user codes.

To add or edit secondary user information using the Customer Website

  1. Verify the security system is disarmed before attempting to manage user codes remotely.
  2. Log into the Customer Website.
  3. Click Users.
  4. To add a user, click + Add New User. To edit a current user, click to select the user to update.
To edit the user's name:
  1. Click the user's current name. 
  2. Enter the desired first and last name. 
  3. Click Save
To add or update a user code:
  1. Click Panels.
  2. In Access Code, enter the user's desired code. 
  3. Click to toggle what parts of the system the user has access to. 
  4. Click Save. Allow a few minutes for the changes to apply to the devices. 
To restrict the user code's access:
  1. Click Time. 
  2. Select the desired time frame the user code has access to the devices. 
  3. Click Save
To add contact information:
  1. Click + Add Contact. Then click to select either: 
    • Mobile Number to add the user's phone number. This allows the user to be set up with SMS text notifications to their phone. 
      1. In Mobile Number (SMS) enter the user's phone number. 
      2. Using the Country dropdown menu, select the country the mobile number is from. 
      3. Using the Carrier dropdown menu, select the cellular provider of the mobile number. 

         Note: SMS (text notifications) is only available in the United States and Canada. It is recommended to use push notifications for accounts outside the United States and Canada.
         
      4. Click Save
    • Email Address to add the user's email address. This allows the user to be set up with email notifications. 
      1. In Email Address enter the user's email address. 
      2. Using the Email Format dropdown menu, select the format the user would like to receive email notifications (i.e., HTML, Email Format, or Plain Text). 
      3. Click Save
To remove contact information: 
  1.  In Contact Information, click to select the email address or mobile number to remove.
  2. Click Delete for the contact information to be removed. 
  3. Click Delete to confirm deleting the contact information. 
  4. To pause or resume notifications to an email address or phone number:
    1. In Contact Information, click to select the email address or mobile number to edit.
    2. Click the Enabled toggle switch to disable or enable the contact information.
    3. Click Save
To update the language the user receives notifications in:
  1. Click Language Preference
  2. Click to select the user's language preference.
  3. Click Save

To add or edit secondary user information using the Customer app: 

  1. Verify the security system is disarmed before attempting to manage user codes remotely.
  2. Log into the Customer app.
  3. Tap Menu
  4. Tap Users.
  5. To add a user, tap + Add New User. To edit a current user, tap to select the user to update.
To edit the user's name:
  1. Tap the user's current name.

To add contact information

  2. Tap Save
To remove contact information: 
  1. In Contact Information, tap to select the email address or mobile number to remove.
  2. Tap Delete for the contact information to be removed.

  1. In Contact Information, tap to select the email address or mobile number to edit.
